Vasteras - Among Vikings And Underwater Hotels - Sweden

\Vasteras, the city by the lake, has three magnificent castles:  Tido' -, Engso and Vasteras castle.  Tido' castle offers a comic and toy museum, and at Karlsgatan 2 there are two  museums  under the same roof .
In Vasteras you wil also find Sweden's largest ancient burial - mound Anundshog.
The mound is surrounded by some of the most impressive ancient remain sites in the country, including ship tumuli and an eleventh century runestone.
Don't forget to visit Vasteras Cathedral while you are here. It has been rewarded with three stars in the Michelin Tourist Guide.  The cathedral's spire is marked with a crown that tells us that King Erik X1V  is buried here.
Vasteras has a beautiful archipelago. Boats goes from the harbour to several islands, for example the bathers
paradise Ostra Holmen and to the island of Elba that has a restaurant which offers one of the best views in town.  There are a myriad of islands in the archipelago, actually more than 300 of them. With other words
there should be something for every taste here.
The clothes chain H&M was founded in Vasteras for more than 60 years ago. The town center has severl small boutiques and seven big malls, and on the outskirts of town there are two big shopping centres with
stores like IKEA and Media Markt.
For a short outing we suggest you to visit Skultuna Brassworks that has several boutiques that for example sell the brands Orrefors, Kosta Boda, Ittala and Sno of Sweden.
There are three very unusual hotels in Vasteras:  The underwater hotel Otter Inn, Hotel Woodpecker Inn that is situated in an oak tree in the Vasa park and the new Oooops Hotel which gives the illusion of sinking into
lake Malaren.
Very welcome to Vasteras
