Old Silver Mine " Teufelsgrund" - Germany

This former silver, lead and fluorite mine was acquired by the town in 1968 in order to showcase the ancient mining tradition of the area, which dates back more than a thousand years. One of the main shafts was restored to allow visitors to access the mine.  Soon after its reopening it was discovered that people suffering from asthma benefited greatly from the purity of the air in the mine. Consequently a specialised asthma station was opened in one of the shafts for therapeutic purposes.
