Torrechiara (14 km to the South of Parma) The Castle: built between 1448 and 1460 by Pier Maria Rossi (Berceto, 1413 - Torrechiara, 1482).  it is one of the most important and best preserved examples in Italy of 15th century castle architecture and, despite being situated on a hill, it has the typical ground plan of a castle built on the plain.
