Originally built in 1354 by Reinhard de Wames, the castle has been home to many noble families, including the Nesselrodes, the Nassus and finally the Counts of Metternich, who lived here for more than 300 years. Destroyed following the French Revolution, the castle was completely rebuilt in 1969 and is now a veritable living museum. Visitors will discover collections of armour, weapons, halberds, tapestries and antique furniture. for more information on special events, visit our website.
