Hubs Pub - Nr Peterborough, UK

Whether you were born and bred in the small town of Whittlesey or you're visiting from a far-flung corner of the country, entering Hubs Place is just like arriving home.  The cosy, intimate feel of the restaurant and bar creates a pleasing sense of familiarity, and the friendly atmosphere and considerate staff make you feel like you're surrounded by friends, even if you are dining alone. The menu certainly echoes the ambience, bursting with traditional, home-cooked dishes - the kind that are loaded with sentiment and provoke feelings of comfort with each mouthful.  Beef casserole with herb dumplings and salmon with lemon caper sauce are great examples of the quality, skilfully prepared dishes, as are the satisfyingly crisp cod with chunky, hand-cut chips and the ever -popular stroganoff.  Deserts follow suit; the cheesecake, gateau and the banoffee pie are all homemade and simply too inviting to pass up, even for those of us without a sweet tooth. The bar stocke many quaffab
