Fondation Martin Bodmer - Geneve - Switzerland

The library established in the village of Cologny, is the life's work of Martin Bodmer (1899 - 1971), erudite collector from Zurich and Vice President of the International Red Cross. The Martin Foundation, created in 1971, has opened its new museum in 2003,designed by Mario Botta. The Bodmeriana includes thousands of original editions, incunabula, autographs, papyrus, medieval and oriental manuscripts, musical scores and art objects which reflect the intellectual adventure of humanity from the origins of writing up till today. This private collection, housed in a late 19th century town house, presents a wide range of exquisite works of art acquired over a period of some 45 years by the Swiss collector, Alfred Baur (1865 - 1951). The permanent exhibition includes Chinese ceramics, jade and snuff bottles from the 8th to the 19th centuries, as well as Japanese prints, lacquer, netsuke, and sword fittings from the 17th to the 20th centuries. Temporary exhibitions are regularly organized several times a year. A Japanese garden, created in 2004, embellishes the Museum's terrace. Alpine Macaroni

400g macaroni 400g diced potato 200g grated cheese 0.2 litre cream or ricotta 200g sliced onions 50g butter stewed apples Boil macaroni and diced potato in salted water, then drain. Cook the cream with the grated cheese and mix in with the macaroni and potato. Fry the onions until golden brown. Serve the macaroni and garnish with the fried onions. Add stewed apples to make a delicious, nutritious meal
