Spitalplatz - Bad Sackingen, Germany

The Spitalplatz has also been restored during the Old Town restoration of the 1980's .  Ir consisted in reshaping a desolate parking into an urban meeting point.  The show- Piece of the place is definitely the fountain designed by the artist couple  Alfred and Inge Regnat.   The adjacent public green space and the striking solitary tree are further attractions that keepthe place alive.   Today, it is a very popular meeting place and is especially appreciated by families with children

St. Josefshaus / Schutzenstrabe - Bad Sackingen, Germany

The St. Josefshaus is located at the corner Scheffelstrabe / Kesserweg and is a completely renovated and modified municipal building.  Today, it is used as a nursing home and is surrounded by very appealing gardens and the visitor enjoys the pleasant atmosphere. The narrow Kesslerweg was rearranged by means of the housing and environment programme.  This lane exemplifies the resident's willingness of embellishing their neighbourhood. In 2003, the Schutzenstrabe was restored toits original state and was paved and planted with trees.   The inauguration of a shopping centre at the Lohgerbe was the reason for the restoration as well as for the broadening of the pedestrian zone.  In the meanttime, the Schutzenstrasse has evolved into a popular strolling and shopping zone.

Baltherplarz / Margaretenschlosschen - Germany

Via the Schonaugasse or Spitalgasse you will reach the Baltherplatz and the Margaretenschlosschen (Margarete's little castle")  The place owes its name to the munch of Sackingen who wrote the biography of Saint Fridolin during the 10th century.   Within the framework of the Old Town restortation during the 1980's the place was given its present appearance.   The fountain was installed in 1986 after having been standing for years unnoted in the castle park.   The place is surrounded by greenery and flowers.   From the Margaretenschlosschen you will have a beautiful view on the twin towers of the Fridolin cathedral. A garden restaurant invites the guest to stay in this idyllic part of the Old Town which is situated net to a park among many trees.

Cemetery - Bad Sackingen. Germany

Used as the last resting place from 1815 until 1958, the tombs of this cemetery document one of the most important eras of the town's history.  Since 1993 the entire cemetery, its buildings and the planting, are under monumental protection.  The Old Catholic church was built during the 19th century, The main targets of the concept of preservation are low-key maintenance of sites where there are tombs and the preservation of graves where urn burials still are possible.   For more than 15 years a citizen's initative with more than 40 members ensures the safeguard and preservations of the cemetery.  Thanks to their permanent engagement it is possibble tp preserve the Au-Friedhof as a place of calm and reflection.   Some graves are closely linked to the town's history, e.g. the graves of the textile factory owners Bally and Berberich as well as the grave of cavalry captain Malzacher.
