Cemetery - Bad Sackingen. Germany



Used as the last resting place from 1815 until 1958, the tombs of this cemetery document one of the most important eras of the town's history.  Since 1993 the entire cemetery, its buildings and the planting, are under monumental protection.  The Old Catholic church was built during the 19th century,

The main targets of the concept of preservation are low-key maintenance of sites where there are tombs and the preservation of graves where urn burials still are possible.   For more than 15 years a citizen's initative with more than 40 members ensures the safeguard and preservations of the cemetery.  Thanks
to their permanent engagement it is possibble tp preserve the Au-Friedhof as a place of calm and reflection.   Some graves are closely linked to the town's history, e.g. the graves of the textile factory owners Bally and Berberich as well as the grave of cavalry captain Malzacher.
