Arras:   Arras, the birthplace of Robespierre,  is the capital of the Pas-de- Calais region. Its two huge town squares , rebuilt after being destroyed in WWl, were originally created over 800 years ago. Surrounded by hundreds of Flemish-style houses and shops, the square sit above a vast network of tunnels, which can trace their history from the French revolution to WWl when the British Army used them as headquarters. Campo Gallina di Portule, the hollow of Campo Gallina became one of the main logistics centres of the 6th Div. of the Austro-Hungarian army at the end of the Strafexpedition (June 1916), organised like an actual town with a hospital, general store, cinema and small church, groups of barracks, shelters and warehouses. Inside the large hollow dominated by the imposing "heroes monument" the remains of the hospital can be noted from field no. 1303, the military cemetery and the foundation of the small church.
