Tourist Attractions Calais - France (2)
Bethune: Bethune town square is a stunning example of Art Decor architecture, although the central
belfry leaves no doubt that you are in the north of France. The massive Town Hall was
rebuilt in 1920, the stonework on its facade depicting the towns events and triumphs, such as
"Croix de Guerre" and "Legion d'Honneur" medals, which were awarded to the town and its
citizens for the courage and strength displayed in the Great War.
Boulogne - sur-Mer: Boulogne France's premier fishing port, has been awarded the status of " Town of
Art and History" and is indeed a gem. The fortified old town still contains the
original city wall, a basilica and a chateau museum. The National Sea Discovery
(Nausicaa) is situated on the quayside, where you can stroll along and watch the
stallholders selling an amazing variety of fresh fish.
