Why do camels have a hump?

In this strange hump fat is stored; and, because of this, the camel can go without food and drink for many days. Water is so scarce in the hot, sandy desert that the Arabs, who wander there, always carry their water them. They carry it in bags made of camel's skin.

A Maloka

It looks like a great haystack. it is made of long poles, cut from the forest, and tied together with strong creepers. this wooden frame is thatched, first with split bamboo rods, and then with palm leaves. Such a house is called a Maloka.

Negro's Hut

How to  build a Negro's Hut? First fix long thin poles into the ground, to make a ring. Join together to form a dome. Over this round shape lace thin sticks and bunches of long, thick grass.   Thatch the top with another layer of thick grass.

Holland

Holland has very few hills. Most of the land is so low that dikes have been built all along the sea coast.  If these dikes where not built, the sea would rush in and flood this country. Large windmills where built and these are used to pump out the water from the lowlands. Holland has many great rivers running over it.  This means that the river banks, also, must have high dikes built along them.. Holland is called the Land of Windmills and Dikes. The people from Holland use Wooden Clogs with upturned toes. These keep the feet much drier in such a wet land. Holland, in spring is famous for growing bulbs such as daffodils, hyacinths and tulips. Flower picking holidays are great fun.. The lovely creamy milk, is taken from the dairy, and much of it is turned into butter and cheese. .
