Beer was first produced around 7,000 years ago As having been boiled, as part of the brewing process, beer was more popular to drink than water. St. Arnold of Metz is one of the patron saints of beer and brewers. 95% of the ingredients of beer is water. Hops are small, green cone-shaped flowers that grow on the hop plant. There are over 50 varieties throughout the world. Ales are fermented at around 18C and should be served at room temperature. Lagers are fermented at around 10C and should be served chilled. There are over 70 styles of beer available today such as pilsners, pale ales, stouts and porters.
