"Danish Apple Baked Pudding - Dessert 1 pound 4 ounces apple sauce 6 ounces toasted breadcrumbs 3 egg yolks, beaten 3 ounces melted butter, or margarine 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 2 ounces sugar 2 egg whites 3 ounces caster sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla Combine apple sauce, breadcrumbs, egg yolks, butter, cinnamon and 2 ounces of the sugar. Bake in greased 3 1/2 pint casserole in slow oven 325F or gas mark 3 for 45 minutes. Remove from oven. Bake egg whites until stiff. Add 3 ounces sugar gradually, continuing to beat until mixture stands in peaks. Add vanilla. Top apple mixture with meringue and return to oven for 15 minutes or until brown.
