This sandstone castle with six turrets was saved from demolition by a group of enthusiasts. In 1988 the building was awarded a prize in the national 'Endangered Works of Art' competition given a large sum for repairs. The keep dates back to 11th century and was built by the Hugues de Bours to defend against pillagers. The town hall was built between 1563 and 1629 and is situated on Place d'Armes, the main square.  The belfry was restored in 1875. The attractive 16th century, Renaissance-style gatehouse was once used as a fort and the original carvings are still visible. The balcony bears the Spanish coat of arms and the shields of Hesdin and the Artois, while the pediment carries the French coat of arms. This gigantic bunker was built by the Germans in 1943 to launch V2 rockets.  The site is still in ist original state. Recorded commentaries tell you all  need to know about the VI and V2 rockets. The site was awarded the title of Historical monument in 1985 and today carries a message of peace.
