Visit Djurgarden island and the Vasa museum and Skansen.  The warship Vasa sank on her maiden voyage in 1628 in Stockholm harbour and was not salvaged until 1961.  Over nearly half a century the Vasa has been
slowly meticulously restored to near original splendour. Skansen is a open-air museum, a Sweden in miniature, and a zoo with Nordic animals.

Don't miss a guided tour in the City hall, built as a supersized Italian renaissance palace in the early 20th century.  Visit the famous Blue and Golden Halls, where the Nobel banquet is celebrated on December 10 every year.
