Welcome to a museum of a kind that has never been seen in Sweden before.  The museum of Spirits is a unique meeting point focused on the Swedish people's bittersweet relationship to alcohol, located in Stockholm's two remaining 18th-century naval buildings on Djurgarden. You will be taken on an unforgettable journey from pain to pleasure, park bench to cocktail party, based on art, scenery, experience, smells, tastes..... Rarely has an afternoon soaked in alcohol yielded so many wise insights.

Sweden: Spirits Of a Nation

The exhibition Sweden; Spirits of a Nation is designed as a walk through the seasons of Sweden.  You will encounter the joy and freedom that alcohol creates at its best.  But you'll also find the reverse of the coin: the day after, and apathy. The odd drinking song will appear along the way.  All yoursenses will be activated, especially if you purchase the exhibition's unmissable supplement.  The

Absolut Art Collection & Beatrice Cussol

As a spectacular aspect of alcohol history, the Museum hosts the absolut Art Collection, one of the most exceptional art collections of our time, comprising about 800 works by international and Swedish artists like Andy Warhol, Keith Harin, Damien HirstLinn Fernstrom, Dan Wolgers and others.  On September 20, a show opens of works by French artist Beatrice Cussol, born 1970. Both new paintings and previously shown works on feminist-erotic themes will be on display.  Co-curated by Swedish artist Jens Fange.

Absolut Sin & Clubkids

This summer the special exhibition. Absolut Sin opens - on how tiny Sweden, with the world's most restrictive alcohol policy, created Absolut Vodka, one of the best-known brands in the world (with help from Andy Warhol and dresses made of gold)  Drawings and prototypes also tell the story of how a unique bottle came into being. On 10 October, a show on clubkids in Stockholm for the past 150 years opens.

The Restaurant

The Museum of Spirits restaurant and terrace boasts an unsurpassed location overlooking the scenic Wasahamnen harbor.  On the menu you will find daily specials, a' la carte and many delicious pastries The menu features Swedish cuisine and reflects seasons, holidays and tradition.  drink plays a part in the restaurant, and with guidance from our staff, the guests can enjoy a beverage experience beyond the ordinary. During the day, the restaurant seats about 80 guests.  In the summertime, we open up a bar on the dock and outdoor seating in the arbor next to our herb garden.

The Shop

The museum shop contains a choice selection of objects relevant to the exhibits:  trays bearing spiced snaps motifs, boozehounds to keep on the desk or on a keychain, and books issued by the Museum of Spirits,one containing a selection from the Abdolut Art Collection and one describing 75 interesting and curious events in Swedish alcohol history, from Bar to Cliche', from Restraint to Repression.

Bus:   Bus 44 from Ostra Station or Karlaplan to Liljevalchs!
           Grona land, Bus 69 and 76 from Centralstation to Djurgardsbron.

Underground:   Red line to Karlplan. Walk 10 minutes or take the 44 bus to Libevalchs/Grona Land

Ferry:   From Slussen all year round. Al from Nybroplan in the summer.
