Castel Park - Bad Sackingen
Built about 1600, the castle Schonau was originally a castle set on a lake with four corner towers. The park was created between 1714 and 1722 patterned in the French style. Wars, fires and changing owernership deteriorated the castle and the park more and more.
The manor had its time of prosperity ,when in 1856, the factory owner Theodor Bally acquired the castle and park. Since 1928 the stately home has been in the possession of the town.
The two polygon corner towers, the central tower and the gabled roof are the archictectural characteristics of that building. The castle houses the regional museum for pre- and pronto history, a collection of clocks, documents on the town history and the trumpet museum that is known throughout Europe. Meetings, receptions and cultural events take place at the castle.
