Geherol Surfing information
You should be able to swim 50m before learning to suit and the best place to learn is with a surf school instructor. All surf schools / instructors are fully qualified, highly experienced surfers and will provide all necessary equipment such as wet suits and boards.

Castlerock
Castlerock Strand
Castlerock Strand produces many left and right peaks and good swells which give long peeling waves. You can drive your car onto the beach.

Portballintroe
Bushfoot Strand, Portballintrae
Attracts large north coast swells especially during the summer months. Swell can be 4 ft + here, when everywhere else is flat. Be very wary of strong rips. Beginners should be cautious in bigger surf. Dangerous for swimming.

Portrush
Black Rock Portrush
This is the western, rocky end of the West Strand and is considered to be the best left handed reef
break on the north coast. There is a public car park in front of the beach.

There is a public car park and Water Sports Centre in front of the beach.

West Strand, Portrush
Watch out for the rocks at the bottom end of the beach. This is a very popular beach so can get crowded. There is a public car park in front of the beach.

Whiterocks
There is a public car park and toilets at top end of the beach. Probably the busiest beach on the North Coast often very crowded especially at weekends. Excellent lefts and rights always bigger than East Strand.
