19 th Century: Time of the Hungarian reform era, a period of economic boom. The first permanent
bridge, connecting the separate towns, the Chain Bridge as well as the Tunnel were
built at that time.

entertainment and social life such as the Danube Promenade were developed as well.
1896 - The Millennium Exhibition and Celebration became the symbol of progress. The city lay-out
with its bridges, avenues and modern public transportation system, the first underground line in
Europe were developed at that time, important public buildings, such as the Parliament were
built.
