The Venetian Works - Bergamo, Italy

The Venetian Works of Defence Between 15th and 17th Centuries

Bergamo heads the serial transnational site representative of the defensive system designed and built by the Serenissisma Republic of Venice between 15th and 16th centuries, which stretches over
1000 km between the Stato di Terra (Lombardy, Veneto) and Stato di Mare (Croatia, Montenegro).

The site is currently aiming for recognition and inscription inside the UNESCO World  Heritage List.

Built during the Venetian period, the Walls are the fortification system that encloses and protects the historical heart of Bergamo
