Thetford is a unique hub of both historical and natural significance. Once the ancient capital of East
Anglia and situated at the heart of the unique Brecks natural area, this market town offers plenty for any type of visitor to discover.

built Gallows Hill before leading the revolt against the Romans  - Iron Age Thetford was heavily

During its time as the Saxon capital of East Anglia, Thetford was home to its own mint, with its coins being found as far afield as Scandinavia.

Nature lovers will jump at the chance to explore Thetford Forest, Britain's largest lowland pine forest.
The forest is well known for its scarce breeding birds and mountain biking trails, and also offers a variety of visitor facilities.  Enjoy a picnic, keep the kids occupied in the adventure playground and maze, and treat yourself to a cake from the tea room.  Concerts are also held in the forest, which was
previously seen the likes of Pulp and Jools Holland perform.
