to Strangnas through Mariefred / Laggesta you take either the local bus oof coffee r museum railway (summer season) to the centre Mariefred.
During the summer the "S/S Mariefred" sails toMarifred from Stadhuskajen in Stockholm at 10 a.m. Tuesday -Sunday.
Mariefred -: in the old town centre, where many houses date to the eighteenth century, there are a many small shops through which browse. Eat lunch at any of the town's restaurants or have a cup of coffee at a cafe' before walking the short stretch to Gripsholm Castle, which puts on public tours. Not far from the castle lies Grafikens Hus with high-class exhibitions and guided tours.
Strangnas : Here can be found many small shops with a character of their own. The old town quarters around the church and windmill are well preserved. Many of the buildings survived the major fire of 1871. There are plenty of eating and coffee establishments in all price categories, to make you feel full and
content before stepping into the magnificent cathedral that overlooks the town. Gyllenhjelmsgatan, which
runs from the town up to the church's Lion Gate, was once proclaimed by court poet Bo Setterlind to be
"Sweden's most beautiful street".
The guest harbour vicinity teems with life during the summer with mini-golf, outdoor gymnasiums, a large
playground and swimming baths in the centre of the town.
