F 11 Museum - Stockholm, Sweden

The F 11 museum is run on an idealistic basis, with the Nykoping Aviation History Association as principal. A number of interested, able and loyal enthusiast maintain and develop the museum. The
beautiful S32 Lansen is an example of appr. 4,000 volontary work-hours by the museum technician group. Almost as many hours has been spent on the S29 Tunnan and te S35 Draken as well as the forward section of the SF37 Viggen at the museum, During 2009 to 2011 we have invested appr.. 3,000 hours in our Viggen flight simulator.

Our new attraction was inaugurated on October 15th 2011 - previously used for training Viggen pilots. In the simulator you will "fly" in a computer-generated world, with realfunctioning instruments and controls. An instructor will help you get started. Prices are posted on our home page and beside the simulator. Gift cards are available for purchace.

The pleasant atmosphere in the F11 Museum is well-known. Coffee, tea, soft drinks and pastries are available in our coffee-shop. From the museum you have a prime spot if you like to watch the air operations at Skavsta Airport of today - the third largest airport in Sweden.

In our shop you can buy aviation books, caps, t-shirts, souvenirs and lithographies with motives of e.g. S31 Spitfire and Saab S18, painted by the artist and pilot Ingmar Schylstrom, and also S32 Lansen lithographies painted by the artist Roger Middlebrook.

The F11 Museum has the ambition to show a portion of everyday life from the wing; the different aircraft which were in use during these 40 years, intelligence duty, the work of the technicians, life in the barracks, the hospital, the sports, the grand uniforms of the air force, and the everyday clothing of pilots and ground personnel.

When more objects from the regional aviation activities are obtained by the museum, this will be an expanded area.  Today, we have a Bulldog and a Super Cub from Army Aviation, and a Bergfalke soaring plane from Nykoping Aviatiion Club in our exhibits.  Nyge (today Saab AB) have also contributed the sparrow, a general aviation a/c, (today in the deparrture area of the airport).

Air reconnaissance has many aspects: photography, radar tracking, photo interpreting.  The development from hand-held cameras with glass frames, to fixed, automatic cameras is shown in the museum.  You can also try to interpret photos yourself with a steroskop. In our special exhibit of Cold War reconnaissance, the advanced reconnaissance system of the Viggen is shown. In our unique "intelligence trailers" you will get an inside view of air reconnaissance and photo interpretation.
