Beware of pickpockets - Finland
Particulary in the summer, Finland attracts professional pickpockets who prefer to target tourists.
Pickpockets often hit in locations populated bt tourists in broad daylight.
This is how you can avoid falling prey to pickpockets:
- Beware of crowds. Be particularly cautious on trams, when visiting sights, in harbours, at
marketplaces, and in restaurants.
- Always carry your bag zipped up or closed.
- Keep your money and payments cards in you pocket at all times.
- Beware of people impersonating policemen. True representatives of the finnish police forc always identify themselves clearly and they never ask to see your wallet. Therefore: never obey a stranger's
request to show your wallet.
Always keep on eye on your property

Should you, however, fall victim to a pickpocket, this is what you should do:
- Make detailed notes of distinctive features.
- Cancel your payment and credit cards immediately.
Only by reporting a crime can you get compensation for the theft and help the police apprehend the perpetrators.
