Chestnuts

The calories in chestnuts, come from carbohydrates, instead of fat.

These nuts are also cholesterol free, low in sodium and quite a good source of dietary fibre.

They are a good choice for slimmers and people with a heart problems.

Dried chestnuts need soaking for at least one or two hours and boiling for 45-60 minutes.

Fresh need boiling for 40 minutes before being peeled.

Preserved in syrup, they become the famous delicacy.
