St Stephen's Basilica - Budapest
A 1000 years ago St Stephen - first king of Hungary, recognized that Hungarians need to intergrate to
Western - European nation states and by having been crowned over the frozen ice of the Danube River, he helped Hungarians convert to Christinaity. The Basilica as being the largest church in Budapest was
build over 50 years and was completed in 1905. This Classical-style building houses Hungary's most
sacred relic: the Holy Right, which is the mummified right hand of St Stephen,. It is truly worth going up the cupola and taking the view of whole Budapest from above. The church can house up to 15oo people and if offers several musical programmes throughout the year. Besides historical value, this area is famous for its sparkling business and urban life, as being the pretty heart of downtown in Budapest. At night time it is definitely the place for entertainment since a huge number of bars, restaurants and clubs ae to be found around.
