Point Pinos Lighthouse - Monterey, USA

Point Pinos Lighthouse is another Pacific Grove landmark not to be missed.  Built in 1855, it is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the West Coast.   Its kitchen and parlor and bedrooms are
furnished with period antiques and weekend self-guided tours tell about the lighthouse's  automated
signal which still aids fogbound ships.

Pacific Grove is also known for its beautiful Victorian homes, many of which have been converted to bed-and-breakfast inns.  These are open to the public during December 's "Christmas at the Inns" showcasing seven elaborately decorated inns.

Golfers will enjoy trying their swing at the Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course, one of the best golf values on the Monterey Peninsula.  This beautiful, Par 17 course is open to the public.  Its oceanside
location offers breathtaking views and often adds the challenge of coastal breezes to an afternoon golf game.  Pacific Grove is the gateway to Pebble Beach, so golfers can also tee up at any several world-class golf courses nearby.

Another favourite recreation option in this area is found on the recreation trail that follows the coastline and Ocean View Boulevard.  It offers a paved pathway for walking, jogging or bicycling.

Shopping is also a pleasure in Pacific Grove.  The town's charming downtown area is perfect for strolling, shopping and stopping for a bite to eat.  The area is known for its quaint antique stores, but offers everything from gift shops to florists, stained glass to coffee houses.

At the northeast border of Pacific Grove, around the corner from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, is the American Tin Cannery Outlet Center, an old cannery that todayhouses 45 designer and top-brand outlet stores.  This center, which retains the flavor of its past, is a popular spot for many visitors and locals alike.
