Runstenar Rune Stones Sigtuna, Sweden

No other town boasts as many stones in Sigtuna.  In the town itself there are a dozen or so.  Within the
municipality you can find more than 150 inscribed stones.  Runestones were erected mainly during the 11th century and are often raised i memory of someone who once lived in the area.  Some stones tell of voyages.  Many end with a prayer,  ' God help his soul '  The stones were usually placed where others could be found by bridges, along narrow passages and at entrances to homesteads.  Pick up a map
showing the locations of the rune stones in Sigtuna town at the Tourist Office.
