The Borough of Coleraine offers a varied range of excellent walking opportunities for walkers of all abilities.

The range of spectacular coastal walks includes the following:  Downhill Estate, Castlerock Beach,
Portstewart Strand, Portstewart Cliff Path, the Port Path, West Bay and East strand (Portrush), the
White Rocks and Portballintoe.

Additionally there are several riverside routes in both urban and rural locations and opportunities also
exist to walk in many forests throughout the area.

Hill walking is catered for in the south of the Borough at Glenullin, where two waymarked trails enable
walkers to experience rural life in the tranquility of the North Sperrins foothills.

For those walkers looking for a challenge, the Ulster Way, incorporating the Causeway Coast Way and the North Sperrins Way, passes through the Borough.

The Causeway Coast follows a waymarked route along the coast between Portstewart and Ballycastle.  It passes through on Area and Ballycastle, it passes through on Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a
World Heritage Site and several Areas of Special Scientific Interest.  The 52 km route offers opportunity for enjoyment to walkers of varied abilities and passes through magnificent coastline scenery.

This 52k (33 mile) rote incorporates the Port Path between Portstewart and Portrush and the causeway North Coast footpath both of which constitute the Ulster Way in this part of the Province.

The route offers opportunities for enjoyment to walkers of varied abilities from those who prefer to
wander along shorter sections.

Car parking is available along the entire route, both in the towns and villages and at specific parking / view points along the coast. The Causeway Rambler bus service (service 376) operates during the summer months.

The North Sperrins Way connecting Durgiven and Castlerock provides a contrasting walking experience to th coastal trails.  The route traverses higher ground forming the northern foothills of the Sperrins Mountains., passing notable  landscape features including Benevanagh Area outstanding Natural Beauty.
