Huvudskar - a gem in the archipelago
Haninge archelapago's last outpost towards the sea is Huvudskar. Here you will find an archipelago
with approximately 200 islands, islets and skerries. A fishing village from the Middle Ages is located here. The fishing village was popular for fishing Baltic herring and cod. It was later known as a pilot, customs and lighthouse station. Tullhuset (customs house) is now a youth hostel.
Tourists venture here to sunbathe, swim, fish and enjoy the landscape. Artists and photographers are
particularly fascinated by the magical light. Ornithologists can enjoy a rich bird life. Seals also thrive
here. And sea eagles soar in the sky.
