Temporary exhibitions are shown here with a focus on Austrian art in an international context. In addition to retrospectives about Austrian artists, thematic exhibitions examine major art movements

The world's largest collection od Gustav Klimt's paintings (including the famous Kiss), paintings by
Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka as well  as works of French Impressionism and Viennese Biedermeier are some of the museum's highlights.

Designed by Karl Schwanzer in 1958 as Austria's pavilion at the Brussels World's Fair, the adapted 21 er Haus is now the Belvedere's exhibition space for Austrian art in an international context, dating
from 1944 to the present.
