Panorama Painting of Crucifixion of Christ - Einsieden, Switzerland

In this imposing twelve-sided one can admire one of the few remaining monumental  panorama paintings of the world with its wide, all -encompassing view.  This vast painting portrays the death of Christ on the Cross, surrounded by the city and landscape of Jerusalem as it was at the time of Christ's death. Following extensive studies at the site of Christ's death the artist tried to portray the event in a 100 m long and 10 m high painting that provides a panoramic view of the moment.  The powerfulstereoscopic effect evokes a feeling of being present at the time.  The presentation of the painting lasts about 10 min and is available in eleven different languages.
