Welcome to Tumba Paper Mill Museum
The history of Swedish banknotes and paper is told in an exciting way, from the 17th century to the present day. At least once a day, there is a demonstration of how paper can be made by hand.
Tumba Paper Mill Museum is a next-door neighbour to the company Crane AB, which manufactures Sweden's banknotes.
Tumba was thw estate of a nobleman, and was bought by Sveriges Riksbank - Swedish central bank - for the manufacrture of banknote paper. In 1758, the Dutch brothers Jan and Erasmus Mulder were invited to start up operations in Tumba. Tumba Paper Mill became a self-contained community with a school, shop, fire station and the workplace.
There are new, modern exhibitions in four buildings. Contemporary architecture and design has been added to an exciting setting steeped in tradition.
Visitors to the exhibitions encounter Dutch papermill foremen, personalities from the works era, and a schoolmistress who lived and worked in the works community. it is tiny community within society.

The museum has a cafe' offering sandwiches, cakes and coffee - other arrangements by prior agreement. There is an outdoor cafe' in summer.
The conference facilities may be booked, as well as lunch or dinner for groupsof different size. You may also book guided tours for associations, schools, companies ant other groups. We also offer lectures, workshops and courses in handmade paper production.
A commuter train from Stockholm or Sodertalje gets you quickly to Tumba. A worthwhile trip.
