Ejea De Los Caballeros -

The Place With Everything.

Today's Ejea de los Caballeros is made up of two very different parts; the old town and the modern suburbs. The old town is located on top of a small hill, La Corona (The Crown) and it was there that Segia, as it was known to during Roman times or Seyia, as it was known under the Moors, was founded. Calle Cantamora, Los Carasoles and a handful of alleyways are the last remaining traces of Moorish occupation.

The lower part of the old town is dominated by the church of San Salvador, a thirteenth century, Romanasque construction with a decorated facades. There is more to the church, however, than its
magnificent exterior. Inside lies a real jewel, the fifteenth-century International Gothic main alterpiece by Blasco de Granen and Martin de Soria.

Other places worth paying a visit to include the churches in Anesa, Faradues(with its remarkable fifteenth-century altar-piece depiciting Saint Anne, The Virgin and the Infant Jesus) and Rivas, as well as El Bayo, the site of the ruins of a Cistercian monastery and convent.

Close to the town lies El Bolaso Reservoir, which boasts a sports complex, restaurant, bar, picnic area and campsite. You can also visit San Bartolome'

In 1900 the population of Ejea de Los Caballeros was less than 5,000 but today there are over 15,000 people living in a town.

As Ejea is a trade -oriented town offering many services it is an ideal place for business and for staging trade fairs. The Ejea de los Caballeros Trade Fair, now the leading multi-sector fair among those held in the main provinces of Aragon, and Feriar Ejea, which focuses on the homemade food and drink sector, craftwork, the world of children and culture, are both showcases for the latest innovations and developments in these areas.
