Clone House - Co Wicklow, Ireland
Set in a tranquil valley in the rolling Wicklow hills, between the market town of Aughrim and the sea at Brittas bay, Clone House dates from the 1670's and has an interesting history. It was partially burnt in the 1798. Rising but subsequently rebuilt and enlarged by its owners, the Patten family, in about 1805 when they surrounded it with a large garden. Since 1950s the house changed hands several times and has been completely restored by the O'Lorcain family. This is an ideal base for visiting Wicklow's Mountains and National Park, The Vale of Avoca. The meeting of the Waters, Glendalough, Glenmalure and Avondale House are nearby. A variety of walks are available along the Wicklow Way that stretches from just south of Dublin all the way to Aghavannagh.
