Basilica Saint Sernin - Toulouse, France
A Basilica dedicated to a bishop, major stopping place in the pilgrimage to Compostela.
The Basilica of Saint Sernin was built in honour of a martyr saint, Saturnin, first bishop and martyr of Touilouse, who lived in the first half of the 3rd century. In 250 he died after being dragged through the streets
by a sacrificial bull, in front of the forum temple (now Place Esquirol). Rue du Taur and the church of Notre
dame du Taur commemorate the bloody route and the death of Saint Saturnin.
