It is situated in the old convent of las Mercedaries calzadas de la Asuncion. It was inaugurated as a museum in 1841 and it contains one of the world's best collections of Spanish art with the works of Murillo, Velazquez,
Zurbaran, Valdes Leal and all the representatives of the Seville baroque school.
