L'Opera al Bianco - Venice, Italy
The name of Cristina Bedin's studio, founded in 2007, is derived from her passion for alchemy: the Opera al
Bianco is the moment when material is purified and augmented and is an appropriate name for a designer who uses glass, a material born of common sand to become transparent and pure. Bedin's bags are the fusion of
precious fabrics (Venetian and French) with artistic glass; hats find their uniqueness in their combination with
firoi di conteria (the tiny Murano beads) made using traditional techniques; necklaces are entire collections of
authentic antique Venetian beads, conterie and rosette (the multicolored beads made from multilayered glass
rods) and "exchange" beads because in the past they were used to acquire goods in Africa and North Americia.
