The Hundred Faces of Liege - Belgium

Liege is a metropolis with a thousand faces and it will seduce you with its wide range of attractions, its secular heritage, its luxury shops, not forgetting the famous "Carre'" district, so popular with night-owls, it is the city of
the  Prince-Bishops, the birthplace of Georges  Simeron (creator of   Inspector  Maigret) and was formerly known as the "glowing city" from its heavy industry especially steel, glass and gun manufacturing it has managed
to preserve many of the traces of its tumultuous past.    You can see some of them in the journey through history
offered by the Archeoforum and in the treasures of St.Paul's Cathedral.  Wander through the historic centre, then
try climbing the "Montagne de Bueren", a long nineteenth-century set of stone stairs leading up to the citadel
from where there are splendid views over the city of the "city of a hundred belfries", then walk back to the centre
down the gentle slopes and ancient alley-ways of the Coteaux district
