The Ravel - Belgium

The Ravel is a network of routes reserved for non-motorised "slow" traffic, including pedestrians,
cyclists, wheelchair users and roller-skaters. The routes usually use dedicated roadways, away
from motor traffic. Canal and river tow-paths and disused railway and tram lines constitute the basis of the Ravel. They have been repaired and re-surfaced as required. They are currently five
ravel routes:

Ravel 1:
330km from Houplines to Lanaya, Crosses Wallonia from East to West, mostly following waterways.

Ravel 2:
approx. 100 km from Mariembourg to Hoegaaden. Crosses the Fagnes moors, the Meuse
valley and the Hesbaye plateau.

Ravel 3:
approx 90 km from Erquelines to Tubize. Crosses the province of Walloon Brabant and Hainaut.

Ravel 4:
approx 45 km from Pommeroeul/Bernissart to Lessines. Follows the tow-paths along the Conde/Escaut canals from Pommeroeul to Blaton, to Ath and then along part of the River Dendre.

Ravel 5:
from Liege to Comblain-La-Tour and from Fleron to Hombourg.

Urban Ravel:
3 cities (Liege, Namur & Charleroi) in 3 cyclists' and pedestrians' maps published by Met in
collaboration with the treee city councils. The maps show the Ravel routes, other cycle routes and cycle lanes, green-arrow routes; pedestrianised streets and footpaths: in short all that
pedestrians and cyclists could need to get around these three cities. Distributed by the three city councils.
