Healthy Gammon Steaks with Fruit

2 1-inch thick gammon steaks

3 ounces brown sugar

3/4 pint milk

1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

1 1/4-ounce can fruit cocktail

Place one gammon steak in a shallow baking dish.

Mix brown sugar and mustard and sprinkle half over ham

Pour over 1/2 can of the fruit cocktail.

Cover with the remaining gammon steak and top with the remaining mixture and fruit cocktail.

Bake in moderate oven (350F. Mark 4) 25 to 35 minutes or until done, basting with juice in pan.

Serve with glazed carrots.

Cover slices of gammon with cold water, bring to a simmer and cook, covered for 20 minutes.

Then drain and proceed as above.

Serves 4 to 6.
