Kir - Aperitifs - French Drink
KIR is not a girly drink in France.
Often you see farmers sipping a mid morning kir at a bar in a delicate, long stemmed glass.
True KIR should be made with cassis and Bourgogne Aligote, although it is usually served with cheaper wines in most bars.
Although traditionally cassis based, you can ask for blackberry (mure) or peach KIR ,
even strawberry or raspberry.
KIR ROYAL is made with champagne, traditionally, but generally with fizzy wine in most bars.
This year's new entry is the glass of rose, which people have enjoyed as an apertif this year.
