My companion and I were greeted at the door of Zara both by friendly staff members and mouth -watering aromas. The restaurant, a refurbished station house, combines neutral decor with modern artwork, creating an attractive dining-roomwhich is bright and airy as well as comfortable and relaxed.
On the Tuesday evening of our visit the restaurant was buzzing with couples, small groups and larger parties celebrating birthdays. With Zara's winning combination of friendly, attentive service and excellent fond it's no wonder it was so busy. Our waiter asked thoughtful questions as we ordered, while the chefs gave our food equal attention to detail - each dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.
Our starters were a meaty fish cutlet and creamy, smoky grilled paneer, both garnished with lightly dressed greens. The pumpkin really added to my curried beef, which had clearly been prepared to order with fresh ingredients and spices, which were used for flavour as well as heat. Portions were generous and the food was so good that we couldn't resist second helpings. The pilau rice complemented the starring dishes beautifully. Desserts included light palate-cleansers such as kulfi, sorbets and fresh fruit.
Pescetarian and vegetarian diets are also catered for. The food is marvellous, but it's the welcome addition of super-professional staff that makes evenings here truly special.
